Cllr Kushner said: “This could increase the likelihood of people getting into more arrears than they’re already in because of the bedroom tax.”

"Since the introduction of the bedroom tax in April, Cobalt has helped customers claim £1.3m in extra benefits."

"Rents Go Up Because OF Bedroom Tax". How did you get that headline from reading that article?

It's a conclusion from:

Less rent is being collected due to people needing to pay bedroom tax

therefore rents have to increase overall to cover this shortfall.

So, reading between the lines, they've decided to put their rents up but it's unpopular so they're trying to blame it on the "bedroom tax".

Good old HA and ALMOs.

RPI linked final salary pensions and everybody being "promoted" 3 years before their retirement etc.

Rents need to go up RPI+ every year just to pay the salaries,,sick pay and pensions.Low wage earners used to buy little back to back terrace houses to avoid being fleeced into poverty by HAs and Councils,,but that's been taken away now by the BTL landlords.

Those two Labour councillors though voting against it,,very good of them,,i wonder what their voting record was when these HAs and ALMOs were set up to create these monsters?.

Yes in my Northern town virtually every back to back or terrace that comes available tends to have a 'To Let' outside, never a 'For Sale/.' And those For Sale, are just overpriced timewaster properties.

Its why I will never vote for Labour/Tory a***holes again (and all the other Westminster party scum).
