How Much Would Delboys Council Flat Be Worth Now?

Recommended Posts

About £200k, but only because lenders don't like tower blocks!

The family in Outnumbered are millionaires and wouldn't be able to buy now (a 3 storey house in Chiswick).

None of the Eastenders characters would be able to afford their homes given the Albert Square is based on Bow/Dalston. Not sure how they would be able to pay their rents given they either work on the market, the Vic, the car lot, in between alternating with prison. Strictly speaking the Square would now be occupied by hedge fund managers.

I don't think posters will like the observation that outside London, houses are not expensive compared with Europe!

God knows how much George Roper's Georgian terraced house in north London would be worth today (Man about the House 1974) a few million no doubt. He had already made the mistake of exchanging it for a modern town house for George and Mildred and would have no doubt finished up with a flat in Benidorm.

Alma Square, Maida Vale London NW8............

The humble Roper didn't just own a flat but a whole terraced mansion on Alma Square, 3-4 million today. Not bad for a man whose cv was air raid warden and two weeks as a bus conductor........

This mandela house is in hackney.

2 bed for only £224K not long before we are millionaires rodders

Look how spacious that former social flat is. You can even walk round the bed in the spare room. How dare 'the State' provide such luxury.

No wonder the rich and professional classes are trying to get their hands on them!:blink:

I wonder who is living in the Steptoes' house now, in Oil Drum Lane, Shepherd's Bush?

Attractive period cobbled yard and outbuilding cum stable?

Rock star? Banker? Trade union leader?

Soap characters lead strange lives. They are housed in places that would rent for 2 or 3 times the menial wages their employment would pay. They drink like alcoholics but never fall to liver disease, in fact they never have coughs or colds but frequently die violent or unusual deaths. Many marry divorce then marry the same person again. the bride or groom normally 'cheats' on the stag/hen night, and it is rare that both parties turn up for the wedding. Most transactions be it a round of drinks that would be a days knicker factory wage, or a newspaper are accompanied by the purchaser chanting 'keep the change'.

They also almost never produce babies, and when about to announce calamitous or sensational news are always interrupted.

Whether they are not expensive in relation to Europe is neither here nor there - it's how expensive they are n relation to income that matters most.
