...and shot dead, could they of been tranquilised? poor buggers.

I'm sure if you had bumped into them, you would have had your own 'Nigel Mansell moment,' as it has been referred to on another thread.

Give a dog a bad name.

I'm not entirely convinced a well fed pack animal would be dangerous enough to stop less extreme methods being deployed to capture them.

It would be quite unusual for wolves (particularly zoo, well fed ones) to attack people. Like foxes, they are generally cautious and prefer to run off or keep their distance.
