Flu Vaccine Mirrors Housing Greed

Recommended Posts

just watching itv news about the flu jab running out in the wake of the bird flu scare.

14 million doses almost gone. 8mil for the elderly, 3 mill for the ill. 3mill for nhs workers.

lovely watching the news as a fit, young man took the jab and a dose away from someone who might really need it later. what a selfish man. he didnt need it as much as an elderly person - ah, but he took it anyway. he doenst care. in fact according to the news. the gps are having to put the jab into loads of people who dont need it, nor are vunerable. they are just panic pressing the gp for the jabs NOW.

welcome to the uk in 2005. me first, no public respect. pushy mums, crafty young professionals. greed and ill priority. what would happen now if it was 1939 ?

the housing market is the same.

this country has gone so far off line now.

i got my own tamiflu off the internet. 30x pills $300. (they are now sold out..!!)

im not trusting the government. i took matters into my own hands. ive also stashed stacks of tinned food at my parents garage. this government cant even house me. hasnt got enough tamiflu. i dont expect if anything hits, that it will do any better.

and even if it did have any. -me being a working, single non home owning taxpayer id be on the last rung of any list. and with all the panic on tv last week, i thought id better get a family stash. ive got 2 teen nephews who wont get it if i dont buy it.

still. heres to great britain.

Could take the BTL strategy, and sell them on to desperate young people at vastly inflated rates (p.s save us a couple)

Or 1929, scenes like this happened in London too. Take in the scene. People queuing in a civilised manner. They're even smartly dressed. I cannot imagine seeing people behaving with this type of decorum in Britain in hard times. The attitude now is that good manners are for suckers.

We couldn't even queue for a £1 sofa at Ikea when the store opened near Tottenham. Scuffles and tears before bedtime.

I am ashamed to say I got a flu jab last month, and didn't consider that there was/would be a shortage, just assumed there was enough to go round. Company medical group suggested it. I'm 30, male, fit and healthy. Any female redhead posters want to go halfers on a deposit?

Many Companies have bought Flu vaccines for their staff to minimise absenteeism due to flu related illnesses. Adding to the shortfall of vaccines for those most at risk. Survival of the economically most useful (most taxable) anyone?

My company has bought one for me. Thus an ageing boomer who wants me to fund his retirement is now without his flu jab.

Is this the Karma they keep talking about?

Food for thought.

Housing solution?

Interestingly, this could in the long run be good for getting flu vaccine production facilities up to the capacity we will need to combat a real flu pandemic when it comes. I read recently that governments have been considering pre-ordering millions of doses of pandemic flu vaccine once it emerges and a vaccine can be manufactured. But the problem is that the capacity for producing vaccine is simply not big enough, because seasonal flu uptake is traditionally low, and there is no way for the companies that make the vaccine to get the money to invest in expansion. If people start demanding seasonal flu vaccine in large numbers, it will generate the money necessary to scale up the facilities, and might help us avert megadeaths when the flu pandemic arrives.

Having said that, it is irritating to know that several people I know had seasonal flu vaccines and now can be heard claiming that they are ready for the "pandemic". No they're not!

To be fair, they may well be about as ready as those who have a stash of Tamiflu in the bathroom cabinet (if I remember correctly, Tamiflu is licensed from a company which is run by one of Bush's mates... strange coincidence, that).

Seriously, though, if Blair had had even half a clue, he'd have realised that this would happen well before the government started hyping bird flu.

What repulsive statements.

'Adding to the shortfall of vaccines for those most at risk. Survival of the economically most useful (most taxable) anyone?'

So everyone who cant turn a dollar can die for all you care.

I was told to go for a flu vaccine a few years ago by my then gp. of course, they were cashing in on some government "pay per jab" quota thing, but i was considered "at risk" but I was a yougn man. I guess they assume that I would be out every night snogging strangers.

they should know that I never kiss on the lips. ;)

actually, that reminds of a recent medical anecdote i heard, woman presenting at clinic with crabs... in her eye lashes/eye brows.

If you think that Tony Blair hasn't considered the opportunities offered by a virus that kills off the old farts when they're expecting fat pensions and 'free' healthcare...

Your analysis of my post is based on assumption of thoughts behind my text that were not present. Not once did I point out that this was either a good or bad thing. I was merely observing a pattern. Nowhere in my post shows commendation nor condemnation of such a pattern, just an indication of the irony that exists within the system. I typed with neither positive or negative emotion.

It was based on this premise of yours

'Is this the Karma they keep talking about?

Food for thought.

Housing solution?'

ie that if a shitload of people die - then the housing problem would be solved.

And if they are old, then even better.

How disgusting....

Here in the Fatherland nothing is happening. I've just asked in the

office and nobody including their childen have been offered anything.

They're desperatley trying to get the unemployment down here you

know.

So what's all the fuss about in the UK when the Krauts are

not bothering?

Just thought I'd mention -how do you know that tamiflu pills bought on the internet are ACTUALLY tamiflu, not just sugar and / or something nastier like laundry powder or pesticides?

This is an enormous opportunity for disreputable folks who want to make a quick profit.

I've forgotten: wasn't there some new government scandal that Blair was trying to distract us from with 'bird flu'?

The company I worked for justified their 'flu' jabs by saying that by protecting yourself you were also reducing the risk of transmitting the disease to more vulnerable people.

Doing well by doing good!

Anyway I wish you socialist types would be a bit more grateful. By buying the 'flu' jabs they were also freeing up more resources for all the freeloaders on the NHS.

And Bush’s mate own the company that is making all that tamiflu

See how MRSA cleared the hospitals, just got to clear the roads now Mr Blair

Still we can rest peacefully that the police will all be at the front of a very long list else how could we continue with the wonderful police state we have.

Flu vaccine is pretty pointless, it only works against one of the many possible strains this year AFAIK. It costs a lot and it's public facing so the goverment push it.

GREAT britain is turning into LITLLE britain by the look of it!!!

if the general public had cared to delve a little deeper than the sensationalist media headlines they would find.

1)flu is not that big a problem this year.

2)bird flu has not been transmitted from heman to human yet.

3)the KILLER MUTANT strain has not yet developed,if it had there would only be a matter of a couple of months to develop a useful vaccine.....and because the folks are looking for something new they havent found the strain or useful vaccine to combat it yet.

get a life and toughen up a bit!
