Help To Rent

This sort of thing is clearly sustainable...

I find it hard to triangulate the rent situation. Rents don't look like they've inflated a lot to me.

We're not paying excessively, 2.5x what I was in 1995 for a lot more space - but not really comparable area.

In fact I've been warming to the idea of renting long term now.

A friend-of-a-friend who has a bit of BTL portfolio has just moved to rented.

A friend-of-a-friend who has a bit of BTL portfolio has just moved to rented.

What you must remember is that we have had wage deflation between about 2000 [since china joined WTO] and now - rents were fairly reasonable back then too.

The only reason the homeowners bankrenters are holding on is because the BOE have lowered interest rates to 0.5% and been handing freely printed money to banks in the guise of funding for lending.

This is precisely the reason I don't fear house prices shooting up in the UK - they are already up!
