Edf Energy Prices 'to Rise 3.9%'

Here's the rub...

EDF's claim on 3.9% is only "provisional", and is based on the assumption that the government are going to postpone the planned rise in green taxes that will come into force this Winter.

The planned tax rise accounts for around 4-5% of current bills, so is substantial. However, the government have been muttering about postponing the rise. EDF have said, that if the rise does come into force as originally planned, then they will lift their prices to cover it.

Will be interest to see what Eon do now.

Hopefully go with EDF...........better competition, green taxes should be on the general taxes....why should private companies be responsible to collect extra state taxes on behalf of the state, they are private enterprises......free gifts to give away should be something the state/governments should organise and distribute independently....if they want to control it nationalise it, if not let the privatised independent companies fight it out between themselves without interference. ;)
