Lenders Say Help To Buy Booming

Recommended Posts

I can see three problems with that straight away.

1. B.B.C

2. RBS.

3. HALIFAX.

I rest my case, your honour.

Edit :- just to add...

RBS said it had so-far approved 169 of its 1,075 applications, and five customers had already completed their purchases.

Hmmm.... five, what percentage of the population of the UK is that? 0.000000000009%?

It'll be interesting to see what sort of percentage of applicants on the scheme get approved and then go on to actually complete, I suspect it may be pretty low given the inherently younger and 'less prime' demographic it's aimed at.

What's the betting the applicant / approval stats will be quietly dropped in future propaganda press releases.

I'm hoping this ridiculous scheme quietly fizzles out over the next few months like most of these government 'initiatives' seem to.

"The average price of the property being bought was £167,565."

What and where are they exactly buying?

There is nothing in London you would want to actually live in.

Cameron fibbing again:

Mr Cameron said: “Four weeks in and it's clear that Help to Buy is already delivering. In just one month, over 2,000 people have been accepted for a Help to Buy mortgage."

5 sales in the first month amongst all the fanfare and propaganda (and I assume that the beginning will be when there are the most sales). Bloody hell. Doesn't seem to be doing well at all.

= 5 sales

What would have been a weak start? 2 sales?

A weak start would have been 200 sales fallen through. A promising start would have been 10 sales fallen through. To get into positive territory is frankly stunning.
