Amazon Reviews

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering, wether someone could write a website to produce an alternative Amazon rating based on the reviews weighted for the number of recommendations. If you look at something like "Twighlight", it gets four and a half stars, but if you readd the actuall reviews, most of the positive ones say something like "Whee, I never read books, but this is the best book I've ever read" and get nil recommendations, while many of the negative reviews are themselves liteary masterpieces, and can get hundreds or thousands of recommmendations. It seems that a weighted averagof some sort would be a more useful measure of the quality of the product. i guess maybe in most cases there wouldn't be much difference, but it would highlight complete scams.

I just noticed (in the course of my legitamate research for this post) that "50 Shades of grey" only gets 3 and a half stars, which is actually quite low. Amazon considers 3 stars to be a negative review. I was quite impressed, I assumed that it would be higher
