Bad Storm Rising!

Recommended Posts

Police have urged people to keep emergency lines open during hurricane-force winds by only dialling 999 to report genuine emergencies.

Heavy rain is due to arrive in southern Britain within 24 hours as a prelude to one of the most powerful storms to hit the country in decades.

The Metropolitan Police said callers should refrain from using 999 unless they required an immediate response, and all other calls should go to the ‘101’ non-emergency number.

A spokesman said: “The Metropolitan Police Service is reminding Londoners to dial 101 when contacting police when it’s not an emergency with expected increases in demand brought about by high winds in the next few days.

Hope this isn't as bad as is being made out and it's just typical headline grabbing nonsense.

I stayed indoors instead of going to the casino tonight, it was pretty windy when I tested the water though. Probably 24 hours premature, which is survivable for a new born baby. Plus I won £30 in online poker, so definitely a positive result (fast-forward 5 hours when a tree makes an announcement in my bedroom).

Paradoxically they'll probably have to shut them all down to avoid damage.

(I made that up but it's probably true, who knows?)

Love it when they said could cost more than a billion pounds in damage...like they are putting a price on it before anything has happened......I am sure this is as good for the insurance companies and new premiums as potentially bad. ;)

3 leaves blew through the back door when I left it open. This distracted me and caused my hedgerow jelly to boil over on the hob and cause a sticky mess. Its like living on Vesuvius!

3 leaves? You are easily distracted! I'm making dangerous pickled onions for Christmas today! They will have "Scotch Bonnet" chillies in them!

Can't be too bad. Wind power exceeding gas power on the grid at the moment, so they haven't shut down the turbines.

I guess that's good! Doesn't happen every day!
