Its a minor drawback when the tradeoff is near infinite scalability - way in excess of what any other crypto is capable of.

The problem is the fees cost a lot. And with greater adoption they will cost more. That's fine for people who can afford to open a LN wallet. Not good for people in poor countries whose weekly wage is too low for that.

Which wallet is charging you a fee to open it? You pay the fee to close a channel but then you’ve got countless near zero fees while you have an open channel. My point is I’ve had channel open for years and paid next to nothing in transfer fees. Whereas if you’d want to do the same with onchain transfer you’ll be paying much larger variable fees each time.

BTW I own numerous BCH/BSV in cold wallets gained from the fork wars but never touched them.

All LN wallets need a fee to open a channel (and to close it). It's a well known issue. The only way around it is to have custodial LN wallets. Which may be the future. It's good that you can afford the fee to open a LN wallet but poor people in 3rd world countries cant.

I sold my BCH. I don't see the need to speak about it when talking about the flaws of LN. BTW I think both BTC and BCH are flawed because they don't incentivise full nodes.

Pretty sure I wasn't charged a fee when I opened up my Blue Wallet ot Wallet of Satoshi wallets.

JJ must be well sweating by now.

Does he have a need to sweat? He sold at the recent top, and if his motivation was solely maximising bitcoin holding could have bought back in at roughly half price and have nearly twice as much bitcoin - a pretty good move. Now he's chosen to pay off his mortgage, which is also a perfectly valid option, everyone has different goals. Your goals are not his goals etc
