London Losing Identity

Recommended Posts

As the rich buy up property and ordinary people are forced out, we ask experts and London residents what can be done

Forced out presumably by the lure of money being put in their hands?

Relocating the Guardian back to Manchester does seem the obvious solution to give bien-pensant journalists a new affordable spiritual home and after selling up in London will leave them a tidy sum in the bank.

....no if people are happy in a place they would stay living in that place to be close to support networks, work and family/friends......people tend to move when there are no longer reasons to keep them living in a certain place, there are better benefits in moving.....however much their house was. ;)

I did find this observation amusing - as if kids having English as a first language is a bad thing for an area.

"Linked with this has been the rise in children whose first language is English. In 2011, only 18% of the reception class had English as a first language whereas this year 33% of the children have."

So one third of the schools pupils come from the UK or English speaking countries (which will of course include Afro Caribbean kids). How appalling?!

I expect the Guardian would like to see no pupils from homes with English as a first language - as is increasingly the case in much of outer London. In one east London borough the paper provides pictures of the new classes at primary school each September - in 15 pages you could barely find one or two white children and those that were were probably eastern European.

There is diversity - and there is what is effectively ethnic cleansing of the native population.

...and wait until the next hitler comes along and says "i told you so"

..then will come the complete and utter genocide of the opposition to every man, woman, child and family pet...all in the name of saving the white race.

the bad news is, he's got a point.

the whites would not have been driven to such extremes had the "multi-culti's" gone about things in a much slower manner, and been rather more respectful of the indigenous folks...

noble and well intentioned as their ideas may be, they have seriously overcooked it.

expect a fair chunk of europe to go fascist again.

we might not be in the mood to stop them this time.

I find it hard to argue against this idea...the odds seem to be in favour of something like this occurring.

Thanks for this, John Cleese puts it really well. As someone who has lived in Greater London all my life and spent a lot of time working and socializing in the center of London, I find the change rather unsettling and certainly the city is fast losing the feel which I myself identify with.

I rather expect the genocide to be of people who fail to get with the program.

Even people who simply notice things.

After all, its the multiculti enthusiasts who have the power, and they are the true heirs of Stalin.

The soviets were slaughtering millions of undesirables way before the Nazis.

Communist regimes have killed "approximately 100 million people in contrast to the approximately 25 million victims of Nazis"... Nazi Germany's methods of mass extermination were adopted from Soviet methods

Communism:

65 million in the People's Republic of China

20 million in the Soviet Union

2 million in Cambodia

2 million in North Korea

1.7 million in Africa

1.5 million in Afghanistan

1 million in the Communist states of Eastern Europe

1 million in Vietnam

150,000 in Latin America (mainly Cuba)

10,000 deaths "resulting from actions of the international Communist movement and Communist parties not in power.

I dont see why people even bother differentiating Nazism and communism. Just call it statism. Centralized power corrupts, doesn't matter who or what the scapegoat is.

I grew up in Central London in one of the immigrant communities that have made up a large chunk of the city's population going back a long time.

The difference between thirty or forty years ago and now, as I see it, is that the indigenous population, and culture, acted like a social 'glue' which bound everything together. There was also a lot of respect for British institutions and people, which were seen as decent and honest and one of the major reasons why people chose to settle here.

The absence of which isn't necessarily a big deal when times are economically good. Potentially a bigger deal in the event of any serious downturn.

Yeah, I have often seen people point out that the Nazis were national SOCIALISTS and Mussolini started out as a socialist, and fascists and Nazis were/are actually on the left.

Inevitably lefties then pop up to make the compelling argument this can't be true because lefties are nice and like fluffy bunnies rainbows and unicorns.

I grew up in Greater London in the 70s and 80s, and only ventured into the centre on special occasions, e.g. the Queen's Silver Jubilee

In my humble opinion, London is 1000% better now than it was back then.

I don't miss the old days one bit.

I put a traffic cone on a donkey once, and "made" a Unicorn! It was the most beautiful day of my life!

You hardly ever see anyone point out in these discussions that there used to be millions of white frenchman living in Algeria, millions of white portuguese living in Mozambique and Angola not to mention hundreds of thousands of white brits living in what used to be called rhodesia and other parts of africa and India none of whom appear to be living there anymore, or have left any descendents, all very much within living memory.

And yet no genocide took place.

Do you ever hear anything about these mass movements of people?

But they happened. millions of people. as recently as the 1970s.

Were you around for the riots a couple of years back?

Just a little taster of what lurks beneath afaic.

As I said, it's not such a big deal when times are good. How London will fare in the face of a downturn remains to be seen.

That's because they had somewhere else to go.

Where are white Britons going to go if the country becomes majority non-white and the majority want them gone? Right now, white Londoners are moving out of London, but there'll be a point before long where they have nowhere left to run.

I won't be at all surprised to see death camps in Britain in the next few decades. I'm just not sure who'll be in them.

All of which could have been avoided if not for 'multi-culturalism'. There's nothing wrong with immigration provided the immigrants are expected to assimilate; my muslim friends in the UK -- who'd moved there decades ago, before 'multi-culturalism' -- were at least as British as I was. But you're doomed when they're allowed to form ghettos and live in their own tribes outside the majority culture.

Yes, i was in London a couple of years ago (very close to the riots) and am still around now.

I was also around in the riots in the early 80s.

The recent riots were like a teddy bears' picnic compared to the atmosphere of the 70s and 80s (again IMHO).
