Just What Do They Teach At The London School Of Economics?

Recommended Posts

Even the dropouts become successful rent seekers, people farmers and scam artists.

Just what is in their curriculum?

Rent-to-rent guru disappears – leaving hundreds of tenants out of pocket

Daniel Burton ran seminars to show other property speculators how to rent and then sublet to as many people as possible. Now he has disappeared – and so have many tenants' deposits

Daniel Buron

Daniel Burton: desperate tenants have found his office abandoned and phone calls and emails go unanswered.

A self-styled property expert who boasted of making £35,000 a month from a get-rich- quick scheme called rent to rent has gone missing, leaving tenants across London hundreds of pounds out of pocket.

These rent to rent scum lords need to be stopped pronto. Hope this news goes national. Awareness of this practice is not very high, could do with a media spotlight shining on these parasites.

Yes, this is a very positive development - hopefully it will lead to calls for more regulation.

I was surprised that he could pull this off anyway as most rental properties have a no subletting clause.

More on rent to rent here:

http://www.theguardian.com/money/2013/jun/29/rent-to-rent-property

Appears it can invalidate landlords insurance, it's against the terms of most btl mortgages the btl mortgage provider can call in the loan & best of all it's totally illegal unless they hold a HMO (house of multiple occupancy) license from the local council, which will of course be perfect for HMRC to collect the correct tax on the "investment"

I remember reading that article and just assuming that it was another aspect of the madness (which it is - I just didn't assume it was an unworkable one). Another wake-up call that we, as a country, shall no doubt sleep through...

Trouble is........... We can have as many "wake-up" calls as we like -- but it would appear that large tracts of the populace are dead - certainly from the neck upwards...

I mean... .... How come we STILL haven't had a monumental crash?

Answers on a postcard please... :D

How can the landlords not be held accountable for the lost deposits? Even if it's the fault of the agent, the landlord is still ultimately responsible for making sure that a tenant's deposit is guaranteed in an insurance scheme. This whole scheme seemed like nothing but a scam from the get go, and, evidently, that's just what it was.
