Blackout risk this winter highest in a decade warns National Grid

Britain's electricity safety buffer is at the lowest since 2007 and a cold winter could see an energy supply crunch.

Every year we get these stories, one year we might actually have a blackout.

I have made absolutely no preparations whatsoever and Angela Knight is fronting the energy industry.

Therefore blackout are 100% guaranteed.

Clearly Ms. Knight was overwhelmed with popularity from her previous job.

Seriously though.. I do get the impression that we are not going to get proper investment in energy until we get some serious, out-of-control blackouts.

"Whatever you might have read that isn't the creak of encroaching glaciers you can hear. The energy industry's climate models have been robustly stress tested."

Our energy is supplied by private companies, so we won't get proper investment in energy until they can see a good return, even if it means the lights going out,

Peter.

Or even then. There is no particular reason why a private energy sector should even bother supplying its poorer and hence unprofitable customers.

Which of course won't happen if Ed Millibrain is planning to cap electricity prices.
