Just saw this on the list of screenplays bought this month in Hollywood and about to go into production.

When the artist arrives, she's smitten, and they plan for a future together by putting their money into the highly speculative tulip market, in which certain flower bulbs were worth huge sums.

More: Rewrite deal. Tom Stoppard wrote the original adaptation of Deborah Moggach’s novel. Film was set up and ready for production in 2004, but was shelved due to budget issues. Ruby Film's Alison Owen will produce. Peter Chelsom will direct. Rights to novel were first acquired in March 1999. Last set up in November 2002.

Let's see - film goes into production now so release will be late Summer/early Autumn 2006.

Hopefully, they will tie in some clever connections with today's housing market. By release date US IRs have risen dramatically, US economy is slowing down. Could this be it - not a terrorist event or a financial event but a film which caues the POP!?
