Gordon Brown 'launched F-Word Tirade At Former Bank Governor Mervyn King'

Recommended Posts

Couldn't resist..

Gordon Brown allegedly launched a four letter word tirade at Lord King of Lothbury,

the former Governor of the Bank of England, when he threatened to reveal details of how US spies

had been allowed to snoop on people’s financial information.

Mr McBride told how “Mervyn’s conscience told him that he had a duty to blow the gaff on the Swift deal,

and tell the British people that the CIA had –with the Treasury’s connivance – been secretly accessing that financial data”.

Mr McBride said Mr Brown had continued “perhaps rather harshly – that Mervyn was talking ‘f****** bull****”

when he said he had a duty to speak out and that it was his ‘f****** ego’ dictating his position, not his duty to the country.”

Was Mervyn one of the good guys up there gripping the levers of power? Not because he made the right calls all of the time, but because he seemed to actually question what was right rather than what was easy/popular.

It's a pity that 99% of the time he kept his mouth shut and did as he was told.. I wonder if he ever looks back and wishes he had had the courage of his convictions?

I suspect that a spot of hill walking would have been on the agenda if he stepped out of line.

Doubtless a £198k RPI linked retirement plan will take the edge off any regrets.

Nice to see you back btw.
