Is It Possible To Compare Rightmove Asking Prices To Sold Prices?

Recommended Posts

When looking at sold prices in my area on Rightmove, is there a way to see the original listing and compare the asking price?

Not quite what you want but may be of help

zoopla - find property via current values

http://www.zoopla.co.uk/home-values/

then click on property eg

http://www.zoopla.co.uk/property/5-edgware-road/bulwell/nottingham/ng6-9hw/15978718

then property history

eg http://www.zoopla.co.uk/property-history/5-edgware-road/bulwell/nottingham/ng6-9hw/28013661

Last time I look on rightmove it showed all LR sold prices for that property.

I want to compare the recent selling prices from the LR to the asking price from the Righmove listing. The problem is that I cant find a way to view the closed listings, although they are still viewable on the site if you save the link while it is live i.e. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-18759083.html

What I wondered is, is it possible to get to the closed listing via the sold price data i.e. can I get to the original listing of this http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=22253115&sale=49612625&country=england

I think you get my point, there's no easy automatic way to do it.

Someone/somewhere could probably match up the property bee database with the land registry data but you'd need to get the addresses into the property bee database, I guess that's why it's not been done.

Sorry dude, if you find an automatic easy solution then let us know.

Bah! I hoped there'd be a Property Bee type app that was able to link the two.

Never mind, I'll have to just start saving all the links as favourites from now on.

I don't think it can be easily done on Rightmove, but it is easy using Zoopla.

Put the following into Google......

"Property details for Road town zoopla".

If the house was listed with Zoopla, property history (the original listing) will be available.

Brilliant! That's just what I wanted, posted way up as well by Northampton Bear which I totally missed!!

I tend to do all my house browsing on Rightmove, never really used Zoopla for some reason.

Thanks very much all.

Also on rightmove if use the price comparison report under the house prices tab that will show the asking price of properties previously on the market. Use the exact postcode.

Does it really give you what you want?

A better solution would be a combination of the information contained on property bee (which gives property asking price history) and Land Registry (final selling cost). I only say this, as the Rightmove selling prices can be all over the place before final sale (usually downwards in my neck of the woods)

Somewhat laboriously, I achieve this by the paper and pen method alluded to above.

Well yeah that would be even better but I'm happy enough with final asking price and sold price.

Yes you can do exactly what you want in RM by manipulating the links, I keep forgetting how to do this and I've just worked it out again so I'm going to type it here for posterity:

1. Find the sold price of the property you want and you'll get a web link thus:

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=36820330&sale=49713470&country=england

2. To get it's original RM list price simply find the property code from sold price (in bold above) and change the one below to it (I've done it for you here):

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-36820330.html
