John Cridland: Scrapping Help to Buy would be like taking a patient off life support before he's out of intensive care

It is almost two years to the day since I launched the CBI’s housing campaign, urging the Government to recognise that boosting activity in the property market and construction sector could be game changers on the road to economic recovery.

Business wanted to see the stagnant housing market rebooted and our hard-working young people able to make their way on to the property ladder once more.

"Young people please borrow to keep the prices high, oh, and there is no bubble at the moment at all, no don't worry about that, even though I claim the borrowing is necessary as economy would be on life support without it, thus lower prices. And only supply is the main component of house prices, nothing to do with extension and borrowing of credit to pay high prices."
