Too Many Estate Agents Posting Here

Recommended Posts

Seems that the site is once again being over-run with estate agents trolling, spouting carefully coordinated VI propaganda, and desperately trying to convince any waverers. Time for some bans, mods?

Personally I think that they should be encouraged. The sooner they have their bubble and it goes pop then the sooner they will shut up.

It's like giving a drunk an unlimited supply of Vodka. When he wakes up in hospital he is unlikely to reach for another drink for a while.

Get rid of obvious trolls but its not healthy to ban every person who has a contrary view.

Agreed, if houses were selling and the economy was recovering EA`s would be too busy to post desperate drivel on here? If they are it is a good indicator that we are getting closer to the final meltdown, which will no doubt be scary but very interesting to watch?

Estate agents will only start crying when their tenants can no-longer pay the rents they are asking, they get voids and any new tenant will refuse to pay the amount the last tenant couldn't pay.... ;)

Why not have a new user group called "property professional" so we all know who they are?

The problem is, they always deny it, preferring to post as a private individual...... "That's it, I give in, like others on here I thought prices would fall but I was wrong. I'm going to buy now and get on with my life, no more dead money wasted on rent for me".

This is the thing. As long as people are upfront about who they are then carry on. It's the sock puppetry aspect that makes it inappropriate.

Would you like to define the difference between a troll and someone who has a contrary view?

A contrary view is quite the opposite.... whilst a troll is a small creature that lives under bridges in Scandinavia.

My definition of a troll would be someone who derives their income from the housing market, estate agent, mortgage broker, banker etc, who pretends to be something that they are not.

Why not make a list of all suspect Estate Agent/Property VI posters thus giving them a chance to admit or deny the accusation?

'Sibley's Corner?

'Sibley's Corner?

Why not just use this thread and pin it so everyone knows where to look?

edit: ps I can't think of any obvious ones.

Seeking to silence any voices is not what I expect from this site. Hell, we even allow Injin to post!

Unless someone is threatening, let them speak. If you cannot pick apart their arguments, maybe your own view is not so unassailable....

Hope I'm not on the suspect list.

The fact is where I live there is a property boom.

We sold a family members house in 4 days for £55k (almost 20%) more than it was listed for.

In my street homes which went for £210k at "peak" are now going for nearer £250k.

I'm not going to pretend it isn't happening because it plainly is.

Would you like to define the difference between a troll and someone who has a contrary view?

A troll is trying to get a (negative) emotional response from their audience and chooses what to say and how to say it with that goal in mind.

A person with a genuine contrary view is saying what they believe to be true and trying to convince their audience and so is likely to be more consistent in their claims and to choose less inflammatory language.

If people spend all their time and effort getting wound up by skillful emotional manipulators it will detract from the informed and rational discussion that is one of the best features of this site.

if the shoes fit ?

Boomer who claims he made a mint from the boom ..........constantly rubbing young peoples faces in it how well off he is from selling his property at the height . While attempting to justify the relentless bragging as "getting the HPI message across " to VI's

somewhat amusing
