Shelter Cymru and the Citizen’s Advice bureau in Wales say many are struggling to pay rent with some resorting to payday loans

On a different note BBC Wales was running a story this morning about residents of Swansea Marina complaining about plans to build new houses and flats in the area. A resident was saying that there is no need as there are so many 'For Sale' and 'To Let' signs in the Marina so why build more properties.

Got to wonder about the scale of payday loans when you see the sheer amount of advertising that the likes of (especially) wonga do. Apparently naming a snooker tournament after a brand of fags was enough to make people start smoking and had to be banned. Yet I must be exposed to loan ads maybe fifty times a day, and I barely watch the telly. Got to get under the sanest person's skin eventually.

It's OK, they are all taken out by young, hip, good looking people who have no problems paying them back. At least in the ads.

How much does TV Advertising cost?

To work out the TV Advertising costs for a specific programme or channel, you will need to establish two things, firstly the average TV viewing figures and secondly the traded cost per thousand. For example, to advertise Nationally in This Morning on ITV1 in April 2010 buying adults, would be calculated as follows; Adults Viewers for This Morning = 1 million, ratecard cost per thousand for Adults in April 2010 = £8.21/1000. Therefore 1,000 x £8.21 = £8,210 per 30 seconds.

I wonder what they are blowing on the TV ad budget.

And how many loans do they need to sell to cover the costs of the ads?

There was a report out yesterday saying that Welsh salaries are now 8% less on average than in 2008.

That's compounded inflation for you, along with static wages and fewer available working hours...... ;)
