British Scientists Power Mobile Phone Using Urine

......they had harnessed the power of urine and were able to charge a mobile phone with enough electricity to send texts and surf the internet.

Researchers from the University of Bristol and Bristol Robotics Laboratory in south west England said they had created a fuel cell that uses bacteria to break down urine to generate electricity, in a study published in the Royal Society of Chemistry......

That's odd, because urine stopped mine working, when I dropped it in a urinal! ;)

This is old hat. I have powered my mobile phone with my own urine for years.

I have to aim very carefully to hit the little turbine generator though.

Is that a Pelton wheel thingy? :huh:

I'm not happy when people use their phones at the urinal when p*ssing.

1. It's unhygienic.

2. These things have cameras.

Well I caught my once-upon-a-time boss, having a phone call whilst at the urinal. I sort of lost what respect I had! This was not the behaviour of a gentleman! :blink:

Some of us older posters remember when the GPO provided bright red urinals in every high street! Some even had working phones in!
