Gay Couple Accused Of Sexually Abusing Adopted Russian Boy For Years

Recommended Posts

An American pedophile has been convicted to 40 years in prison for years of sexual abuse of adopted Russian boy. His boyfriend from New Zealand who allegedly assisted in meticulously recording acts of sexual offence is going on trial at home.

At the age of 22 months, Adam was sexually abused by his ‘adoptive parents’ for the first time. After that he was abused on a daily basis. The ‘parents’ took photos and video recorded practically everything they did to him.

well russia has now banned adoption from same sex couples.

horrible story. i personally think giving young boys to gay couples was asking for a horror story like this.

I'm not remotely PC but IMO that's well out of order. John Barrowman and his partner (Scott somebody) were talking about adopting and I don't thnk their being gay makes them any more likely to abuse than a hetero couple.

Yes, it's a horrifying story but it looks like they were already part of a paedophile ring and also it's not really an adoption as one of them was the biological father. It's even more chilling to think that the abuse was probably planned before the child was conceived.

Maybe lesbo couples should only adopt boys, and gay-er's girls.

Does seem strange all these celeb same sex couple happen to adopt the same sex kids (ie Elton John)

They had a gay yank couple on BB3 trash TV series 'worlds strictest parents' once. Did seem creepy the 3 or 4 kids they adopted 'just happened' to be all boys.

Well quite, it's utterly horrendous. Being naturally skeptical of RT's reporting, especially since they seemed very keen to use this case as justification for Russia's recent introduction of xenophobic and homophobic adoption laws, I googled it, and found other sources for the story:

...partly because I was interested in how someone could be sentenced to 40 years jail without being put in front of a jury of his peers; apparently it's because he pleaded guilty.

Worrying, isn’t it.

However, on the other hand, I did see a story recently about two lesbians adopting a boy. The boy had been taking hormone pills to turn himself into a girl. He wasn’t yet 10 if memory recalls. I will try and find the story.

The question is, would that boy be dressing in girls clothes and taking hormone pills to grow boobs if he hadn’t been adopted by the lesbian couple?

I doubt it somehow.

Same sex couples should not be allowed to adopt, period. Nature intended children to grow up with a male and a female. This rule has served humanity well for millennia, why should this simple and effective rule be changed so gay people can have their cake and eat it?

So is it a rule or nature then? We are so far removed from our natural environment that it is hard to know but one could imagine that in nature children grow up in tribal or family units with aunts, uncles as well as parents involved in upbringing so a lot more complex than today's notional "nuclear family".

However, the child's rights should be paramount not those of gay couples.

I was vaguely interested in gay divorce, now that gay marriage exists in a number of countries. It appears, although research is limited, that lesbians form unstable couples with higher rates of separation than straight couples but homosexuals are more stable than straight couples.

I used to work with one half of a gay couple, both in their late fifties/early sixties. They'd been together a long time, thirty years or so. I don't know if they would have got married, sadly the chap in question died before the law changed. The thing is, they really were the archetypal "old married couple", much more so than actually married heterosexual pair I've ever met.

They were wonderful with kids too. I'm actually getting a bit upset now that my daughter never got to meet him, and vice versa. It's the first time I've thought about it and I can actually feel myself welling up a bit.

:( doesn't do it justice.

I dont know what to make of it. On the one hand I personally wouldnt want to be bought up by two men, but then a lot of straight or single parent upbringings arent ideal either. No child gets to choose their parents naturally.

On the other, its not simply about 'gay rights' gays have as individuals, its directly effecting the rights of another party (the child), so I think it has to be a mutual agreement between the gay couple in question, the child, the biological parents, and the regulator. If the child doesnt want homosexual adoptive parents, it should be their right to demand so. (maybe it already is?)

I saw one debate programme on this. There was one old guy, small, white beard, well spoken.

He'd spent his entire childhood in care, he said he would have loved to have a family and it would not have mattered in the slightest to him whether they were gay or not. He just wanted to have a family and didn't because there were not enough families willing to adopt.

I have read the odd mumsnet saga on adoption and it sounds like a total nightmare, always hurdle after hurdle to jump through. Not what gets mentioned on the "Can you adopt?" posters.

AFAIK there are just not enough people willing to adopt (I am so impressed by people who do, I wouldn't) so to put a blanket ban on gay couples is preventing children having a family, like that poor old guy in the debating programme, as well as demonising a section of the population who, in my experience, are usually more civilised, wealthier and educated than the norm and so more able to provide a decent upbringing.

I think there are more cases of predatory paedophiles targetting single mothers to take advantage of their children.

There was a horrific case in Northern Ireland and I will never forget the photo of innocent little Millie who ended up as the victim of her mother's boyfriend

Yep. Adopter's can be vetted and what not. Not much to vet their poor choice of boyfriends. Another reason why we should have a publicly available sex offenders list like in the states. We might not want govt to intrude on our choice of partners, but people should at least have the ability of finding out if any prospective partner is a scumbag.

Plenty of gays around - chances are the odd one is going to be a rancid paedo as well. Same as everybody else.
