Jeffrey Skilling, the ex-Enron chief executive who was sent to prison in 2006 after being convicted for his role in the energy giant’s collapse, could be freed by the end of the decade after a US judge cut his sentence from 24 to 14 years.

The reduction follows a deal between prosecutors and Skilling’s lawyers under which around $41m (£27m) of the 59-year-old’s fortune will be distributed to victims of Enron’s collapse. The ruling also puts an end to years of appeals.

Can armed robbies cut the same type of deal?

I heard that his particular white collar prison only had 8 holes on the golf course as it was still in development.

Joking aside, this is bvllshit. A 10 year stint in a 'nice' prison, and only doling out about half of his net worth as compensation?

Yay America! This guy ruins millions of lives, gets out early, and still has a life 99% of Americans can only dream of!

Sure they can revoke his travel rights, but he'll just buy a yacht and sail somewhere less hostile.

They should have stuck him in San Quentin, or worse.
