Sancho Panza
No council should have been that large in the first place but christ - 6k jobs - that's gotta hurt... Population of 1 million. And they had 20,000 on the council.
byron78
Ours is on the brink. 4.6M on free bus passes for OAPs being the killer.
Eddie_George
They'll go from 20,000 full time staff in 2010 to 7,000 in 2018. I wonder what the 13,000 people that worked there in 2010 were needed for if they can operate with 7,000?

If departments have been outsourced, it's likely that they can reduce other support functions as a result. I do wonder too if a department is outsourced they count that as a job cut (even though the job is still being paid for via a contract with a 3rd party). Yeah and the productivity figures are likely low so lots of spare capacity. Edited September 17, 2014 by Ash4781
