Ed Miliband: Labour's Spending Was Not To Blame For Britain's Economic Woes

The Labour leader made the claim after he had delivered a speech on welfare in east London in which he confirmed that Labour would remove the winter fuel payment from well-off pensioners, and not reverse the Coalition’s child benefit cut.

Asked whether he accepted that the “Labour party you were part of until 2010 spent too much”, he replied: “No, I don’t agree with that.

“You can take two views about this – you can either say that what happened was that the deficit caused the financial crash, or you can believe that the financial crash caused the deficit.

“The reason why President Obama is having to deal with the deficit, and President Hollande is having to deal with the deficit, why every country around the world is having to deal with the deficit is because of the financial crash.”

Mr Miliband added: “I take responsibility for the most important thing which is that we did not regulate the banks properly, although that was regulators around the world, we did not get our regulation right and we take our responsibility for that.”

No Ed the reason why everyone is having to deal with the fallout is that everyone has been living beyond their means for decades. Living on debt has become the norm, but long term it's unsustainable everyone discovery the wealth was a mirage at the same time.

The global debt expansion was creating pseudo wealth that the global elite couldn't resist and filled their boots with and created an interconnected system that couldn't withstand any type of shock.

Labour ran a deficit for all of the seven years prior to the crash.

The man is so far up his own ass this late in the game, the guy has balls and still spinning nothings changed. I find his response insulting because it makes the assumption that I was born yesterday.

I wish for once a politician would be truthful, maybe boris but he's up a banker's ass.
