Ecb Headquaters In Frankfurt Under Siege Right Now

Recommended Posts

The entrance of the ECB is blocked by over 3,000 'Blockupy' protestors in a march against austerity. 'Blockupy' has announced the coalition has “reached its first goal” of the day.

Blockupy spokesman Ani Diesselmann announced, "The blockade is standing. The business of the ECB is successfully disrupted."

Anti-capitalist protestors have taken to the streets the financial heart of Frankfurt a day ahead of Europe-wide gatherings planned for June 1 to protest leaders handling of the three-year euro debt crisis.

Next they plan to siege Deutsche Bank at 10:30am (8:30 GMT) local time and then move on to the Frankfurt National Airport.

Spokesman Martin Sommer said Frankfurt’s financial district could be occupied by as many as 20,000 who believe the Troika – the ECB, the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund – is imposing an “austerity dictate" on financially troubled countries they have bailed out.

Blockupy protesters are also protesting against other issues, including food prices.

Wherever the banksters go they are met with protests, maybe the time has come for the banksters to give up and resign?

Nobody was complaining when the banks were lending money negligently.

No one is complaining here against the help to buy thing.

Not one politician has been held to account for the banking fiasco.

Why protest when all you want is more than someone else with the same scumbag politicians and the same corrupt system to give it to you.

fight CAPITALISM....

AND AUSTERITY?

surely the opposite sides of the coin.

I assume they want unsound money just like it was for the last 15 years.

Now, if they were protesting bailing bankers as opposed to the poor, the reduction in Public Sector, specially the Administrations, and their immoluments, then Im all in.

+1 Appears that they are protesting for a return to the previous disastrous policies that enriched bankers and politicans

Not one bankster either...

I doubt these German protesters are thinking of themselves, they are not the ones suffering from austerity...

The problem with austerity is that it's hitting the people who were not the beneficiaries of the earlier corrupt lending.

The only purpose of the austerity adopted in Europe (and in the UK) is to save the banks, not to rebalance the system, and that's why these people are protesting.

They are protesting for a radical change of the system towards a fairer system for everybody, certainly not to return to previous malpractices.

Indeed ... entitlement culture bred into every sinew of all of these 'protestors'. I do not claim to know the full in's and out's of the entire banking system but I do know lending and borrowing beyond any affordable means is not the way out of the current crisis. Banks are to blame in part for sure, but so is anyone who took out a loan for consumption which they were not able to repay by any sensible means. What happened to earning, saving and then buying rather than just putting it all on tick? Can any one of these 'protestors' say that they have lived within their earned means, never taking bank credit and are therefore free of all blame?

Still, we can always print more  .

what capitalism?

+1 ... free market capitalism died many years ago, and I cannot see it returning any time soon.

Huh? Where do you get that absurd idea from?

There is no Austerity...they are protesting a lie.

You are speaking about the UK, the common people of Spain, Italy and Greece certainly do have austerity.

a fairer system for everyone would implies control, accountability and taxes.

control implies elites, accountability implies high costs and taxes come from the people to make it all fair and possible...and of course, we need the banks to distibute the newlay acquired fairness.

in other words....a fair system is entitlement based....not rights based.

Some of the same folk starving under same austerity measures, except armed with batons and pepper spray, will be out beating the crap out of their brothers and sisters for the promise of a meal.

People just suck.

FIghting capitalism, what a load of rubbish.

And the austerity isn't to save the banks but to save the currency - at least, where they actually have austerity, ie the Eurozone.

What your missing is that all the vested interests including the media have branded what has occurred as 'capitalism', and use this as a means to hammer their opponents.

Thus if you support the bailouts then your a good 'capitalist' and if your anti-bailouts your an evil 'socialist' or 'commie'.

What's more it's worked so well that large numbers of the anti-bailout crowd have accepted this language also.

I don't see a contradiction- after all the people they are protesting against do claim to be following a free market agenda. Like virus's Capitalism comes in different strains- some more toxic than others. The current strain of Neo Liberal capitalism has proved toxic to almost everyone not in the 1% charmed circle.

it's NOT capitalism...it's corporatism.

capitalism requires responsibility for ones actions....not passing the blame to whipping boys.

karma's a bitch, the whipping boys are getting angry and about to give pompous aristocrat/technocrat/career politician/bankster a good hiding, one that he will not forget for a very, very long time.
