Song For Sir Mervyn King

Recommended Posts

Outgoing Bank of England governor Sir Mervyn King will bow out with a song on Sunday as a guest on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs.

Mr Sentance, a vocal opponent of quantitative easing the former Monetary Policy Committee member, was among the first to speculate on the economist’s song choices on a campaign on Twitter. Link

Any good song for him?

How about these opening two verses from "Working Man Blues" - Bob Dylan

There's an evenin' haze settlin' over town

Starlight by the edge of the creek

The buyin' power of the proletariat's gone down

Money's gettin' shallow and weak

Well, the place I love best is a sweet memory

It's a new path that we trod

They say low wages are reality

If we want to compete abroad.
