Nuggets Mahoney
I do like a mass pipe and drums. It was either Alan Lomax's The Land Where Blues Began or Scorsese's Blues, I can't remember which, but one of them drew a direct line between British military fife and drum and, with some West African influences along the way, early Delta Blues music So this... morphed into something like this

SNACR
I do like a mass pipe and drums. Home grown's better. Weirdly someone on the street with a handheld camcorder managed to deliver more powerful footage than the BBC and has the effect of as if you're looking back in time, through some peculiar handheld viewing device to a Britain of yesteryear. They should have just let these march round London during the riots. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gJZoO1liVY
Live Peasant
Luftwaffe March from the film The Battle of Britain - although part of the film score, it does sound quite authentic. As a piper, any number of 6/8 marches spring to mind.

Nuggets Mahoney
I can't help asking myself can't the Welsh do better than all that German stuff? It's on the tip of my tongue. Something with a good top tenor section.
stormymonday_2011
Or maybe this slow march used by the SAHB http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpSXyJ4DNKM BTW if Scotland wants a national anthem this magnificent Alex Harvey track is a thousand times better than the appalling Flower of Scotland

StuG III
Mass male voiuce choirs do it for me too. Is it alright if I consider this part of my country's heritage too? There some Welsh blood in me. And some Scottish and Irish too. Makes the 6 nations quite good as a fair chance one of team will win
Oliver Sutton
Seriously??!! What next, a thread about our favourite guns? --- A scary aspect of the UK is the growing fetishism of the armed forces.
