High-Frequency Traders Face Speed Limit On Deals

Recommended Posts

surely HFTers would jsut move to another platform?

Only if that platform had the liquidity needed, but who knows. I can't say HFT in FX really sounds like much of an issue given what a crap-shoot that market is. It gets much more interesting in the equity world. For that, there wouldn't be the easy option of moving to a different venue since the process of setting up an equity exchange is so tightly regulated everywhere. Having said that, if HFT were killed off, you can bet that people would start whining about how they were being ripped off because it took so long to get their orders filled.
