Squeeze On Houshold Finances Intensifies

Among those renting from the local authority or housing association, 45% indicated worsening household finances and only 2% an improvement. At 28.5 in April, the resulting index reading was the

lowest for a year and by far the weakest of the five housing categories monitored by the survey.

All fiveincome groups reported a sharper

deterioration of their finances than in March, with the largest month-on-month index fall seen in the £15,000 – £23,000 category.

Not surprising they're feeling it the most given real cuts in earnings.

Real cuts in real terms earnings COMBINED with the 11th year of above inflation rent rises. Rents which factor in to local averages via the LHA system and provide upwards pressure to minimum private rents across a borough and in turn minimum house prices.
