New Cash Card With Plus Logo, What Can I Do With It?

Recommended Posts

Hello, my old venerable cash card (linked to a savings account) died last week as it was completely demagnetized. So the bank (a crappy ex-Building Society with appalling customer service and the economic competence of Justin Bieber) sent me a replacement cash card. I also have a proper debit card liked to Visa Debit and a different account.

The new cash card has a Plus logo at the back, like this:

but no instructions. And it has a chip, just like a debit card. In other words it looks like a debit card.

I wonder what I can do with this card. Somebody told me I could use it on any Visa network. Is it true? On the bank's website it says cash cards can only be used at ATM's in Britain. But with this logo can use it abroad? Or can I use it a the supermarket? I've been to Tesco last night and I've noticed this logo.

Any info appreciated.

I wonder what I can do with this card.

Scraping frost off your car window. Forcing poorly protected yale type locks. Mixing car body filler. Cut up to use as spacers. Chopping coke. Improvised ruler. You can probably do some banking type stuff with it too. <_<

All you can do is get cash out, basically any machine that takes Visa usually.

If it's not your own bank's ATM you might get charged though.

A quick update. I would be going abroad shortly and I went to the bank (Halifax) and the clerk categorically said with that card I won't be taking money abroad.

Considering that Halifax's advice is usually very poor, does he have a ground for that?

I thought that all cash cards with that logo could withdraw money from the Visa ATM's.
