Overcrowded In Council Housing In Leeds?

Recommended Posts

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/councils-rename-bedrooms-dodge-hated-1830272

I hope for Leeds council tax payers sake (not the councils) that there is no one on the housing list that needs a bigger property.

It's an outrage to look at 'hiding' bedrooms.

The government will need to tweak the law to classify one bed / two bed based upon a mixture of number of rooms and floor space. If they announce plans to do this now then Leeds council will realise that they're in a right mess (suddenly all rents go back up) and nobody else will do the same.

Philpott claimed that his house was overcrowded but he had installed a full-size snooker table in what could have been a bedroom.

Maybe it's a plot to put the rents up.

If total rent has to stay the same then people will just pay more for their bigger one bed place and the people wanting more bedrooms will never get them.

If you work though (ie: not on benefits) you get to keep 100% of the rent you could charge on your spare room. Just ask for permission and you are quids in.
