Let's Talk About Platinum

Recommended Posts

Platinum spot prices have been stagnating for the last 3 years:

How would one buy Platinum in UK? Are there platinum coins? Can one buy platinum bars at a reasonable price above spot? I usually go the B'ham Jewellery quarter to buy PMS but they are not very interested in dealing with Platinum. Any info appreciated.

EDIT; Just found a 1oz Platinum, Isle of Man, One Noble at £1141 + VAT. It's 13% above spot. Rip off?

These are in Sutton Coldfield, not a great distance from BJ1/4

Why buy platinum, when you can get the real thing. Don't forget, Basel has never had silver or platinum as an asset category. Plus there is VAT.

If you were to buy Platinum who could you sell it to?

The only options are ebay, scrap or auction house, none of these options are attractive after you have paid 20% VAT to buy the Platinum in the first place.

This would have been my next question.

I've just given a look at the platinum section of the Kitcomm forum and I've seriously got scared. It seems the premium on spot is atrocious even in the US.
