House In Barnes, £70K

Recommended Posts

Yes indeed:

This one is £700k though:

Both about the same size.

First one must be the paedo house. Second one will probably be torched with children inside.

I've been in a three storey, 5 bed near Barnes village - narrow rooms, tiny garden. Lots of people used to build into the basements in the larger houses, not sure how that's going now. Place is full of media & bankers - though I'm told a lot of the local housewives put up with hubbie at home these days: "Do you HAVE to look when nanny bends over?"

Ah but the 700k one is much, MUCH more conveniently located for access to rail and air services.

Nice if you like to be able see the colour of the pilots and drivers eyes :)

May I direct one to further directed study at the documentaries entitled, "Location, Location, Location", Kirsty Allsop et al. You will find that price is predominantly determined by the property location in relation to employment prospects, schools, crime rate, and local amenities such as shops etcetera, etcetera. If one compares two properties from a more local standpoint, on the same street for example of similar size, home improvements such as magnolia walls, laminate floor can increase the value of home to a small degree and hence the sale price and the speed one wishes to dispose of the property. <Flared nostrils>

The £70K house will have yoofs (innit) stalking around at night, smashing up your car, loitering outside your house. Your kids will grow up in bad schools. Your house will be a target for squatters, drug dealers, robbers. There are no jobs, unless you like commuting 500 miles to work. You have really noisey neighbours which row every evening, and who don't look after their gardens and exteriors. Or it could be a really nice area, who knows.

I knew the area 20 years back and that is a perfect description, most of the rest of the town is like that too.

You forgot to mention that it's bl**dy cold as well.
