But this year is different as the continuing downturn means our love affair with the humble hut is threatening to run into the sand. The website beach-huts.com – a sort of Rightmove for prospective hut buyers – has For Sale entries dating back more than three years and still unsold. These are not out-of-date ads nor are the asking prices unreasonable, as several huts are on sale for under £6,000.
Si1
i thought the Indie was the last bastion of properdie-is-theft leftyism? Or are beach huts exempt from this for indie journos?

From what I've seen of beach huts, the sort of people who own them couldn't give a stuff about what's fashionable. They just want somewhere to store all the children's/grandchildren's paraphernalia, plus chairs, windbreaks, surfboards, etc. - + to have somewhere to retreat to when it rains and to make a cup of tea/coffee nice hot soup. winkie
.....to be honest who cares what they cost when not interested in buying one for £1000 or £10,000.
cashinmattress
£170k for a shed. A shed you can visit for perhaps a few weeks of the year if the weather fair. Some people really are that stupid, or, some people simply have too much money. You can't cure stupidity, but you can lose money?

Its a sex thing. I was a lad, and the female form was a total mystery. At this particular beach in Devon, there was a row of these things, and they were used to change in, of course...but what the ladies did quite often, was to change half way in, facing the back, doors open.....wonderful....bottoms, hips and side glances of chesticles....
