Keep a box of tissues handy .. it’s a bit of a tear jerker

In today’s Maidenhead Advertiser:-

‘An Estate Agents in Maidenhead town centre has shut up shop after going into liquidation. The doors to Palmer and Price in Queen St were locked this week , uncollected ,mail lay on the floor, the desks were cleared and the lights remained off after the business folded. Its website has also been disabled.

A meeting with creditors is due to take place on Thursday as the company has gone into liquidation. The estate agents had been trading in Maidenhead for two years. Nigel Keene partner of Atkinson and Keane Estate Agents in the same road, was not surprised an agency in town had closed down.

According to Mr Keene the property market had been slower in the town this year, making it tough for businesses that do not have a history of trading in the town”

He added “It is quite easy to open the door and start trading, but the market is quite competitive in Maidenhead and there are a few established agents.”

I am surprised it is just them that have closed down

Atkinson and Keane have been operating in the town for 12 years and recently won a national award for its business.’

And this is the same Mr Keens who has spent the entire year talking the market up at every opportunity saying that there was no downturn in Maidenhead.

I don’t generally take pleasure in others misfortune, but for Estate Agents I make an exception.

So much for the suckers rally !
