Want Vfm? Try A Hyperinflation Vacation!

Recommended Posts

This dynamic, in which savvy borrowers win big while people on fixed incomes, like the old and the retired, lose their savings, reproduces exactly what we’ve seen in previous inflation episodes elsewhere.

God, the injustice and immorality of government really does make me ill.

If you are feeling the pinch of domestic inflation - why not go somewhere a bit further down the line of currency debasement?

Well, that is mostly caused by sanctions.

And hyperinflation? That's a collapse of political authority - the article refers to it at the end, and suggests the political decision to abandon the nuclear program will be taken at the ballot box. The point is hyperinflation hasn't happened in Iran.

The real problem with the state is that it promotes inequality by picking winners and losers, the example in the article being the import licences granted to Iranian traders who have government connections and foreign-held capital.
