200p
Not a good start for the precious metals and related stocks. Perhaps the three Wise men might some fragrant gift-sets rather than buy gold this time around?!
The Masked Tulip
Ruddy Tesco - they could have saved announcing the getting rid of the US operation, and the chap who runs it leaving Tesco, until the New Year.

The Masked Tulip
Balls - I was hoping for a dip back down to £3.10 first. Ruddy supermarket!
200p
I've not had a look at the TSCO chart lately, but looking at it just now with my UNtrained eye http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/kaavio.Webhost/charts/big.chart?nosettings=1&symb=uk%3atsco&uf=128&type=2&size=2&sid=122894&style=320&freq=2&entitlementtoken=0c33378313484ba9b46b8e24ded87dd6&time=20&rand=779447043&compidx=aaaaa%3a0&ma=1&maval=30&lf=1&lf2=2&lf3=0&height=444&width=579&mocktick=1 it is at the same level as far back as 1996. I'd have no problem tucking these away at under £4 a share, I wouldn't beat myself up over 40p. It will look interesting when it makes a 2-year new high above 450p and a good trade targeting £5-6. (probably where I will go in at 460p). The chart looks dangerous if it trades below 280p and I would avoid (use a stop), which would indicate insider dumping and a problem that is not seen on the surface of the financials. Net debt looks manageable at £6.8bn when profit before tax is at £3.8bn (http://www.tescoplc.com/index.asp?pageid=30) The P/E ratio is considered cheap at single digits 9.7 The Tesco car parks are always full, true people shop at Lidyl and Aldi, but they don't stock everything or do fuel. I have to always sit behind a small queue at the traffic lights for cars to turn into the local one on the way home from work. There's a snobbery in the British psyche and people will trade back up to Tesco when they can. Advfn chatter TSCO http://uk.advfn.com/cmn/fbb/thread.php3?id=27074988&from=2111 Oh and this is not investment advise! The Masked Tulip
Are you allowed to mention gold. Prices have gone up noticeably in my local Tesco since their pre-Christmas announcement - suspect they were heavily discounting to meet that deadline. The Masked Tulip
I'll go with SDS (ProShares Ultra Short S&P 500) this time Ooh, that's a good one - on the NYSE isn't it? Thought the rules were just London listings? I am going to stick with TSCO (Tesco) again. I think they have had a bumper Christmas. (Sainsburys seemed to be very busy also - amazed how many people in Swansea were willing to pay the extra money in Sainsburys compared to the Tesco 300 yards away.).
