Economic Slow Down Heading Into The Second Phase

Recommended Posts

Some interesting and worrying reports in the Blog.

This one in particular, http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/news/article....58&in_page_id=2

The CBI said the difficulties for retailers are being passed on to wholesalers and manufacturers. It said 43% of wholesalers are reporting lower sales than a year ago and so are cutting orders.

Among the worst-hit sectors are the motor trade, with dealers reporting their worst sales performance since December 1999. The doldrums in the housing market has also badly affected sales of household goods, furniture and DIY.

John Longworth, executive director of Asda and chairman of the CBI's retail panel, said: 'October was yet another tough month for retailers, who have seen no let up since June.

'The effect of five months' very weak sales is now also having an impact on wholesalers and on the wider economy.'

When the second phase gets going the forced selling in the housing market will really accelerate.
