In-laws Anecdotal

Recommended Posts

Some of you seem to enjoy your anecdotals, so here's mine :)

My in-laws have just been over (they live in Kelsall, Cheshire) - helping us pack as we've just STR'd (wanted to be chain free).

Today's conversation ....

Father-in-law : "Don't rent for too long, did you see Nationwide's figures released today? House prices up again."

Me : "Yes, though I do find it amusing that these organisations all come up with different figures. They can't all be right, though they could all be lying"

Father-in-law : Stern, contemptous look.

Me : "Just as an example, how many houses are there for sale on your road at the moment?" (of about 30 homes or so)

Mother-in-law : "6"

Me : "When in the last 10 years have there been that many houses for sale at the same time in your road?"

Mother-in-law : "Never. There's normally none for sale, perhaps the odd one on occasion"

Me : "Why haven't they sold then?"

Both-in-laws : "They're too expensive ..."

Could almost hear the pennies drop.
