Company failures rate 'to grow'

New pension regulation will further squeeze struggling businesses

More than half of UK businesses expect company insolvencies to accelerate over the next year, according to a survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Manufacturers are particularly gloomy about future prospects, with three-quarters of them predicting a growth in business failures.

Fewer than one in seven firms expect a fall in the number of companies going to the wall.

Firms said regulatory burdens and debt were the biggest risks to business.
