yokel
Saw a tv advert for Shelter this afternoon - based on evil landlords making the lives of children and their families a dangerous misery. Wants donations to help fight bad landlords. Surely the place to start would be campaigning for Shapps to reintroduce the landlords register that he dumped after the election - Shelter helping thousands of individuals fight individual cases wont change anything. But it was a welcome change to see that point of view rather than encouraging dim speculators to buy `investment properties' on daytime TV. Si1
weren't shelter unwittingly the landlord's best friend in encouraging higher housing benefits under Labour?
okaycuckoo
Nah, the lawyers make more this way. Nah, the lawyers make less. That's a long standing trend. Shelter does make more - and also makes a great fist of complicating simple matters. Also unregulated outfits like Landlord Advice make more - they charge the landlord about £500 for simple stuff like serving the notice, typing in a few details in the online court form, and paying £80 to the lawyer who turns up in court to do the actual work and cover their mistakes. Probably set up by ex-estate agents. Banking isn't the only rip-off industry. http://www.landlordadvice.co.uk/ Edited June 8, 2012 by okaycuckoo
