Me and my girlfriend went to view the new show homes in Cranbrook at the weekend.

Obviously we found the price expensive, typical with new buillds and did think the rooms (especially bedrooms) were small.

Has anyone else been to see them and what did you think?

cheers

Sounds like a typical UK housing development from the last 15 years.

It's funny that when you look at housing history you find the in the early 1900's the houses were quite small, but by the 30;s they were quite reasonable sizes in most areas. Today they are tiny again.

It makes me think that at some point in the next 20 years that reasonable sized houses will be built again

I don't think I'll count on that.

The only way to get a reasonable size house for the build cost is to self build or have it built, but then you have to somehow beat the land price trap or "they'll" get you that way.

The problem in the UK is planning and access to land, if people could get building plots for a sensible price, a market in building quality houses to order would appear.
