Forecasters Urge People To Prepare For Winter Freeze

"We've had a pattern of very mild winters over the last few years so this will come as quite a shock," said Met Office Chief Meteorologist Ewen McCallum. McCallum said the forecast of a big chill this winter was two-thirds likely to be correct

Wednesday's warning raised the prospect of energy bills rising as cold weather stretches gas supplies, which are historically tight as North Sea reserves start to run out.

Dropping North Sea output has already helped push bills up sharply this year.

Just make sure you buy a house with a chimney or two (future assurance and all that) - or don't they 'new' build them like that anymore?
