Mastercard Spend Down 3.5% In Sept

The total amount spent using Mastercard branded credit and debit cards fell 3.5% to £5.41bn during the month.

The restaurant and leisure sectors were hardest hit - suffering spending falls of 9.9% and 3.9% respectively - the group added.

This is a real sign that things are on the turn.

Wish they'd quote the amount paid off too, that would be as interesting.
