ReubenH Report post Posted October 13, 2005 So I'm guessing you all remember poor Danielle Beccan, the 14 y/o Nottingham schoolgirl murdered by two unspeakable thugs to whom a small part of justice was yesterday handed in the form of 32 year stretches apiece. The Times quotes some remarks from Danielle's mother, one of which stands out to my mind and seemed worthy of putting here: Paula Platt and her family left the gang district of St Ann's, Nottingham, within months of Danielle's murder. Now settled in the quiet Nottingham suburb of Wollaton, Mrs Platt, 32, has spoken of her hope that Danielle's death woud make the people of St Ann's and the rival gang area of The Meadows take stock of their lives and end the rivalry that led to the shooting. "To be honest, we wanted to leave St Ann's way before this happened but we couldn't get on the property ladder, " she said. It's a safe bet that this consequence of unaffordable housing won't be on anyone's balance sheet...
