lovelyhead
Bit of a random question but does any one here use peat briquettes for their fire? I'm currently using anthracite but it is getting quite expensive at £60 for 2 weeks supply. If anyone does use briquettes what is the heat output like? How long does a ton last? How much does it cost?
SarahBell
Can you not get wood for free?
The Masked Tulip
You should use wood and not peat. Peat is a big green issue that you should read up on.
libspero
You should use wood and not peat. Peat is a big green issue that you should read up on. Plus (from my limited experience) it's pretty rubbish.. very low heat output (peat that is). Unless you have a big supply of free wood, I would probably go for coal if you are using it for heating. It has by far the largest heat output.
okaycuckoo
I used to own a farmhouse that came with peat cutting rights on the local moor to fuel the house. Never did make use of it though. It's a hard day's work on the bog. Did it as a kid.
