Chinese Inflation Drops Sharply

Recommended Posts

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/china-business/8878261/Chinese-inflation-drops-sharply-as-IMF-chief-Christine-Lagarde-warns-Asia-to-be-prepared-for-instability.html

Inflation fell from 6.1pc in September and marked the third straight decline since a peak of 6.5pc in July, bolstering expectations that price pressures were on a solid downtrend.

The news came as International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde warned that the world was at risk of plunging into "uncertainty and financial instability" and urged Asian economies to be on their guard.

"We are all in it together and our fortune will rise or fall together," said Ms Lagarde in Beijing. "Asia is not immune. Whether it is the trade channel or whether it is the financial sector which can operate as a crisis accelerator, Asia needs to be prepared."

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said prices had fallen further since October, adding to the view that policymakers will edge towards more pro-growth policies, although inflation is still too high to expect a cut in interest rates.

"As inflation worries ease, the room for fine-tuning monetary tightening is getting bigger," said Ting Lu, an economist at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong.

I'm sure Bernanke will soon get it back on trend...

Looks like China will soon be expanding via debt again soon?
