Theresa May admits authorising reduced passport checks
May tells MPs she agreed to relaxation of checks on EU passport holders but did not sanction lifting of checks against 'warning list' of potential terror suspects and illegal migrants

When this story broke she said how cwoss she was with the border "security" boss. Thersa appeas to be another lying poltician as we all have come to suspect. Proof that the Lib-Lab-Con block all want unlimited immigration to prop up house demand and prices. I joined UKIP about 2 weeks ao.

Theresa May has no clue does she! Unwanted persons could be coming in using false Eu passports and she reduces checks - no doubt thought she would save money! Short sighted and thick; she should resign.

UKIP is the only party firmly agreeeing a withdrawal from the EU. The latest ploy of other parties is to tout a renegotiation of treaties. That will not do the job and is a smokescreen. We should only be free trade area members and nothing more. No more EU parliament ( hardly democratic atall) ..NO MORE NONSENSE LAW AND PERMANENT EMPIRE BUILDING BUREAUCRATS WASTING OUR MONEY. Lets have the power back in Westminster and then we can vote for our own fete.

Good. They should be relaxed. They should be relaxed out of existence. Why are we still checking EU arrivals at all, when we're supposed to have free movement of labour? Most of the rest of Europe don't. We've even been running passport control on UK internal arrivals for the last few years for heaven's sake. Drop those, and the EU checks, then maybe they'd have time to check the people they should be checking without running such a shambles of a service and being as overworked as they've all been queuing up to claim they've been.

Could you phone up the French customs service who often check my passport (and others) when arriving from another Schengen country, could save me 5 minutes.

I'm all for UKIP BUT.... when I contacted my local UKIP representative last election, I wrote two MASSIVE paragraphs. One about the general economy, employment etc, which got a lengthy (ranty) response. The other large paragraph was related to housing.... which got NO response whatsoever.

For goodness sake let's not threaten our reciprocal agreements on freedom of movement. I want to leave this shithole! After that go for it :-)

I guessed Gaurdian before even knowing about this.

Which means this story will be front page until she resigns. It's like a very slow process of assassination.

And before anyone says no, I will bet this will be their front page every day this week and into the weekend, She must resign, the BBC can only quote what the press are reporting after all, they are only reporting what people think which is that she must go, Theresa May MUST GO.

Er... I think you may have missed another party firmly committed to getting us out of the EU... the BNP.

UKIP are Johnny-come-lately europhobes who are just cashing in on the current anti-EU sentiment. Their deputy leader is an Argentinian who has blagged herself a Spanish passport and lives in Barcelona; has no British connection at all!

At least its given the terrorists a level playing field. No doubt they all came into the UK unnoticed last summer and are now preparing to cause carnage on a massive scale during the 2012 London olympics. Top tip. avoid London like the plague during the olympics and during the run up to it. Our security services are as efficient as passport control so do not hold a false sense of security.

There is free movement of labour, the passport check on arrival in the UK is just to confirm that you're a citizen of an EU country and therefore eligible.

Most EU countries abandoned checks on intra EU traffic with the Schengen agreement in the 90s, which made sense considering the long land borders most of these countries have. Although there are fewer checks on the border they have quite strict in-country controls. In most of these countries you're expected to carry your id card or passport with you at all times. Not sure we want to be going down that road.

Schengen is far from being one big happy family: France reintroduced checks at the Italian border during the Arab Spring, and Denmark has recently reintroduced controls at its land border.

What were the Guardian's front pages for the 13 years Liebour allowed this to happen as well?

Maybe but at least they appear not to be racist.

However...I went to a Farage meeting a couple of weeks ago. He was sensational - passionate, eloquent and a brilliant speaker. He really got the mainly Tory, white-haired but also disaffected Socialist crowd going. Every time he talked about foreigners the crowd went wild... Er...

Excuse me if I'm being dumb, but if you aren't checking people, how can you tell if they are on the watch list or not.

To be fair to her, they gave her a budget, said "check all these people when they arrive" and she and the border people did the best they could WITHIN THEIR BUDGET.

During the busy summer period, despite their own staff not being allowed to take leave, they still didn't have enough people to manage the numbers, so, they went from checking everyone to random checks.

The solution would be to give the border service ENOUGH MONEY. it's a typical government mindf*ck where they cut the budget to an enforcment department then wonder why the costs due to lack of enforcement rise.

It's like the benfits checks. If we doubled the number of people looking for false disability claimants we would save 10x the amount of money it cost to employ them through the false claims they would spot.

But no-one ever looks at the bigger picture.

Maybe but at least they appear not to be racist.

On the whole the BNP aren't racist. 99% of their voters wont be racist. Their manifesto reads like someone from HPC wrote it, and make almost complete sense.

Except for the bit on the last page where someone has scrawled in crayon "And we hate poofs and niggas"...

And lets be fair here, if you did an anonomous survey of the conservtative members of the house of lords you'de find a lot more racists than in the BNP.

No idea why people are bothered about terrorism. 50 deaths from it in the UK during the past decade, compared to 400 per day from heart disease.

And no, I don't fall for the 'because we've prevented loads of acts of terrorism" line. I simply don't believe that. What I do believe is that the deliberate planting of fear into people's minds is used to justify the ever-increasing erosion of our privacy.

Same with paedophiles, another area of offending that is vastly overplayed to suit our lords and masters.

Yet another case of the need for a national id database. Require foreigners coming here to register at an embassy before travelling, and make it mandatory to scan in on arrival and departure.

That way we would know who should be here. If the police pick up anyone who isnt recorded as being here, or has overstayed their visa, they can act quickly on precise information.

At the moment the system is just an out of control not fit for purpose joke.

No difference between left and right. No longer left v right. Its politicians (and bankers) v us.

This seems to be the case. The PEOPLE are sick and tired of the entire Lib-Lab-Con block and see them all as traitors. May's latest criminal conduct simply confirms it.

Join UKIP here: http://www.ukip.org/helpukip

And sign the NO to 70 Million here: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/19658 106,038 so far

The 2 go together. UKIP has some excellent policies and its not just out of the EU. Don't expect much on housing because the immigration issue is a bigger problem. Take care of the one.....

IMHO UKIP strikes the right cord as a revolutionary party. Brits won't support the BNP or EDL in any numbers because we don't like fascism too much. Our most excellent revolutions (1642, 1688 and, by extension, 1776) were all liberal-democratic in nature and against established order that had gone deaf, institutionaly corrupt and more in favour of foreign interests than those at home.

The petition will galvanize popular opinion and if UKIP get thir act together and get a few more to cross the floor (one Lord so far) there is a chance we can remove the Lib-Lab-Con block with a very British Revolution. But a revoltuion it is going to take and the middle classes are angry enough and May's crime may be the trigger.
