Peugeot Citroen To Cut 6,000 Jobs To Save 800M Euros

Recommended Posts

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-15463004

French carmaker Peugeot Citroen has said it plans to cut 6,000 jobs in an attempt to save costs.

The news came as it said automotive revenues fell 1.6% to 9.3bn euros ($12.9bn; £8.1bn) in the third quarter from a year ago, due to a "sharp contraction" in European demand.

The carmaker said its goal was to restore the "automotive division's competitiveness and profitability".

It said the job cuts would save 800m euros in 2012.

"The group's strategy of becoming more global and moving upmarket remains more valid than ever," the carmaker said.

So the effects of scrappage scheme still being felt. So Peugeot Citroen is going to try and survive selling more expensive cars when consumers have very little cash?

Viva recovery.

I'm on the road all day and rarely ever see new Peugeots or other French cars. I think Toyota, VW and Kia are destroying them. I don't think there is a single French car in the top 10 car figures.

The French version today of what the bbc said

Peugeot plans to lay off 800 agency temps by the end of 2011 in France

The other 6,000 who might lose there jobs are from the rest of europe so if you work for PSA in the UK !

Well there is a risk of ending up on the dole!

They are the number 1 car maker in France and the number 2 in Europe (its all over for Rover)

They employ a total of 167,000 having said that there cars are expensive

BTW I don't believe that this will happen as its just scare everybody and free publicity for them also Peugeot is actually a family father to son etc

Its a shame that MG Rover left the family!
