Like the Iranians would be that dumb - a couple of years from an N-bomb an' all.

Hmm, conspiracy theory in the first post...

Saudi conveniently opposite Iran... ideal aircraft carrier for land based aircraft... Bin Laden is not going to complain any more...

Why would Iran want to blow up the Saudi ambassador in the us? What's the motive?

Both Saudi Arabia and Iran want to be the local superpower?

Iran is the equivalent of being extreme Protestants and the Saudi's extreme Catholics?

Remember this is the Muslim world and according to their calendar they are in the 15th Century.. So England v Spain - 1588 or Spain - v- the Dutch.

They hate each other?

Both wish to corner the market in sand?

There is an age old battle to see who can grow the bushiest beards?

Actually, they loathe each other.

I'm a bit behind on the geopolitical landscape of the middle east. I know Iran hates Iraq and Iraq hates Iran, or used to and everyone there hates Israel but why Saudi Arabia and Iran? Because the Saudis are pally with the US?

Iran and KSA have been at war for months.

The battlefield has been Bahrain. Iran has been trying to destabilise the Gulf in hopes of expanding its sphere of influence. KSA has been leading a 'coalition' force there since the spring.

This is escalation.

Different sects of Islam. Read into it - it's historic, but very much key. And yes, Saudi's links with the US is also an issue.

So... who will attack Iran first? Israel or Saudi Arabia?

When Saddam ruled Iraq the Sunnis held power in Iraq over the majority Shia. But the American brought some kind of 'democracy' to iraq and now the Shias are in the ascendancy. Unfortunately, they've become quite friendly with Iran.....both being Shia dominated. Nice one. The Saudis are ruled by Sunnis but have a large Shia minority.

It is the Sunni versus Shia Muslim thing.

Iran is mainly Shia, Saudi is mainly Sunni and, boy, do they hate each other.

Basically, they hate each other because of something that happened in 632AD... did you see what I did there... and also because... well, just because they can...

The historic background of the Sunni–Shia split lies in the schism that occurred when the Islamic prophet Muhammad died in the year 632, leading to a dispute over succession to Muhammad as a caliph of the Islamic community spread across various parts of the world which led to the Battle of Siffin. Sectarian violence persists to this day from Pakistan to Yemen and is a major element of friction throughout the Middle East.
Sunnis believe that Abu Bakr, the father of Muhammad's wife Aisha, was Muhammad's rightful successor and that the method of choosing or electing leaders (Shura) endorsed by the Qur'an is the consensus of the Ummah, (the Muslim community).

Shiites believe that Muhammad divinely ordained his cousin and son-in-law Ali (the father of his grandsons Hasan ibn Ali and Husayn ibn Ali) in accordance with the command of God to be the next Caliph making Ali and his direct descendants Muhammad's successors. Ali was married to Fatimah.

Muhammad's wife Aisha endorsed her father Abu Bakr as the successor to Muhammad. In the Battle of the Camel (656), Aisha opposed her step son-in-law Ali outside the city of Basra. Aisha's forces were defeated, but Ali permitted Aisha to live. In this battle Muslim killed Muslim.

Sunnis follow the Rashidun "rightly guided Caliphs", who were the first four caliphs who ruled after the death of Muhammad: Abu Bakr (632-634), Umar ibn al-Khattab (634-644), Uthman ibn Affan(644-656), and Ali Ibn Abi Talib(656-661).

Shia theology discounts the legitimacy of the first three caliphs and believe that Ali is the second-most divinely inspired man (after Muhammad) and that he and his descendants by Muhammad's daughter Fatimah daughter of Muhammad's first wife Khadījah bint Khuwaylid, the Imams, are the sole legitimate Islamic leaders.

The Imamate of the Shia encompasses far more of a prophetic function than the Caliphate of the Sunnis. Unlike Sunni, Shias believe special spiritual qualities have been granted not only to Muhammad but also to Ali and the other Imams. Twelvers believe the imams are immaculate from sin and human error (ma'sūm), and can understand and interpret the hidden inner meaning of the teachings of Islam. In this way the Imams are trustees (wasi) who bear the light of Muhammad

not quite there yet.

there is going to be a war previous to the one with iran.

this one will include hezbollah, hamas and a few of the waifs and strays that putin has been having chats with recently.

conclusion:

#hamas and a couple of these radical groups launch similtaneous explosive devices in most EU and US capital cities.

..result.......EU and US will carpet-bomb them with fuel-air explosives, nuke syria, and then send in the drones to wipe everything out that shows up on infra-red in the region.(we will win)

THEN,we'll get the brief ceasefire, regroup and the fisticuffs with iran, libya mk2, and russia...plus a few extras.

this is the bit that really ought to scare you.

once the ceasefire is formally signed (and it will be publicised because there will be much panic)I suggest you have a bolthole within 12 months.

before the year is out the next war will start with a major sneak attack on US/UK with nukes...and there will be major reprisals.

American attempts to get a war going are getting a bit pathetic now.

It's like Quantitative Easing - they want an excuse to justify their actions but the bottom line is that they'll do it anyway.

There certainly doesn't seem to be much potential upside for the Iranian regime from the alleged conspiracy as reported thus far

Still, this must be one of those 'good' conspiracy theories as it's getting bags of uncritical media coverage

And it certainly will help take Americans minds off other things such as this tragic schoolboy error on the part of the unswervingly benign American intelligence services...

Operation Fast and Furious was a sting run by the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) between 2009 and 2010 as part of Project Gunrunner in its investigations into illegal gun trafficking. The stated purpose of the operation was to permit otherwise-suspected straw purchasers to complete the weapon's purchase and transit to Mexico, in order to build a bigger case against Mexican criminal organizations suspected of being the ultimate buyer.[1] The operation started in the fall of 2009 and ended in late 2010 shortly after the death of Brian Terry, a U.S. Border Patrol Agent and has since become the subject of controversy and a U.S. congressional investigation. During the operation, the sale of at least 2,000 guns were facilitated by ATF knowing most would be trafficked to Mexico. By June 2011, the guns have been linked (through eTrace, ATF's electronic tracing program) to some 179 crime scenes in Mexico.[2][3] By August 2011, 21 additional guns were recovered from violent crime scenes in Mexico.[4] Of the 2,000 guns knowingly released by ATF agents, only 600 are reported as recovered by officials. The remaining 1,400 guns have not been recovered...

America hasn't really moved on much from the 'present false evidence Re. WMD to the UN' trick. It's very silly.

Surprised anyone gives anything they say any weight at all.

Unlikely to be KSA. My BAE compound chums tell me that their guessing is that the Saudi Pilots will run - they are prize peacocks and nothing more. Unlikely to be Israel. I suspect it will be the 5th Fleet conveniently located at Bahrain

nope, these guys run to a script.

they seem fully intent on fulfilling bible prophecy.

so I've basically told you the layout of psalm 83/ezekiel 38.

inner sanctum baddies to be wiped out before there is enough spiol/bait to make the rest happen.

Operation Fast and Furious

this will be good.

operation fast and furious is nothing more than preparation for a semi-global nuclear/biologica/scalar war.

letting off a few fireworks in the middle east is just the warm-up.

I should imagine most people will be bewildered enough when the initial stages happen, not so prudent to stick around to hear fat lady.

US Attorney General Eric Holder says the alleged conspiracy was "conceived, sponsored and directed from Iran"

The US says it has broken up a major terror plot in which agents linked to Iran sought to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington.

Two men originally from Iran - one a naturalised US citizen - have been charged with counts of conspiracy, Attorney General Eric Holder said.

The plot was "conceived" in Iran by the Quds force, part of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, he added.

The state department has listed Iran as a "state sponsor" of terror since 1984.

Mr Holder described the $1.5m (£960,000) assassination plot as being "conceived, sponsored and directed by Iran", and said Tehran would be held accountable for its alleged involvement.
